While the Diary of a Mad Hedge Fund Trader focuses on investment over a one week to six-month time frame, Mad Day Trader, provided by Jim Parker, will exploit money-making opportunities over a brief ten minute to three day window. It is ideally suited for day traders, but can also be used by long-term investors to improve market timing for entry and exit points.
Thanksgiving Thursday into Friday can provide for some nasty low volume reversals, however as stated yesterday, I think these will be muted this year due to the late holiday into month end.
Markets typically go in the direction they are trending to overstretched levels into today's close.
With the U.S. closed tomorrow and nobody home on Friday you have the potential for some big wiggles.
For those rabid Futures Traders enjoy.
USD/CAD...dollar buy stops are over 106.16 (94.15 sell stops futures). The Futures are currently trading at a 5 point discount to cash.
USD/CAD is winding up to go to 108 and then higher.
AAPL...for those of you who bought the DEC 27 540 calls...
Later today or late Friday (Traders Choice) I'd look to lay off some of the risk by partially legging into a call spread.
These have doubled!!!
Sell the 560's or 570's...anywhere up to 50% of the original position.
This strategy locks in some profits and allow you upside for free.
Again this is traders choice. Trading styles differ with each investor.
I'm cheap and like to keep trading on the house's money by taking a little off ( in this instance..Locking some in and still having upside) Paying for the trade!
I want to keep a core long position. I am looking for an initial test of 570?for this wiggle over the coming weeks.
Nikkei...I have a tgt of close to 17,500, so I'm basically ignoring the DXJ.
I have my risk parameters in place and I'm putting on my trading blind fold and mail gloves....No touching the mouse!
USD/JPY...100.75 ( 99.25 Futures) is as good a spot as any to sell some Yen.
